The Stories you wear
What influence does narrative have on a garment?
With this work, created within a week,
I explored how a garment can create a
narrative and how it can be either destroyed or amplified through action.
Does it lose its impact through transformation, or does it gain conviction?
For this, I attached hand-knotted ropes to a men’s jacket, using a traditional Baden
weaving technique for whips. I then filled the garment with bricks and dragged it once around the design faculty of the UdK Berlin.
Documented in a video piece, this
performance illustrates a transformation that gains conviction through destruction.
Or perhaps the better question is: Or rather, what influence does a garment have on its narrative?
